but this is where faith comes in. faith is the entire basis of christianity. no, i can't see God, so i have no visible proof that He exists...but i could argue the same thing with something as simple as the wind. i can't see the wind...i see the effects of the wind, but i can't see the wind itself.

i'm not trying to argue with you, nor am i trying to cram my views down your throat...so please don't think that. i'm just always curious as to why people say they don't believe in God. for me, i can't imagine surviving a day w/out Him...so to meet people that go an entire lifetime w/out Him, it throws my mind for a loop.

I agree with most of that. Though, I've never seen a Tyler Perry movie, and I do believe there is some kind of a Supreme Being that created the Universe, but he/she/it/them is not here to guide us or answer our prayers. That that is solely up to us. But I don't believe there is a satan or hell. I do believe that bad (evil) exists because we do. That it's choices we make and personal responsibility for our choices. That's my little opinion.

From my angle, the idea is that God has a divine plan and is almighty, whitch should imply that what we define as evil, is part of this plan. And it is humans that do evil (nature can't be evil, since it doesn't have a sense of moral), since humans are supposed to know better. We have a free will, and we are formed by our surroundings, if we assume there is an almighty God, we can also assume that he took our potential for doing evil into considering when giving us free will, in that case, then yes, God has created room for evil to exist, and therefor, is the source for this space and inevitably, evil.
Or there is a bigger picture whitch we cannot understand.

(remember, I'm an atheist, I'm just arguing with the givens now)

Still, even if assuming that God gave us free will, thus making it possible for evilness to exist, it is still the responsibility of the human society to hinder evil. We still have responsibility for our actions, not in terms of "in front of God, you have to answer for your wrongdoings", but in terms of the rest of humanity. If there is a God and you will have to stand before him on judgement day, I'm betting on him being nicer if you tried to do good for the sake of others, rather then for his sake. He isn't the one suffering after all.
If he would be hurt for every murder, rape or child abuse on this planet, he would have resigned long ago.. (no, wait he did, he gave that one to Jesus, anycase, Jesus would have too. )
Still, even if you base your believes on christianity, the responsible for evil will be the humans. Since we are the ones who has to live among it.

The Evil is an Agent of God who is here to purify our whole being in a such way we'll bring the best in what we do.
Or in one word : Love in everything we do.
This attitude is called , The Golden Heart .
