Okay I am a little late but Mal set you straight, don't fear for your safety that's crazy.

It is deathly cold, my friend from Kiev just came back from Egypt and says its DAAM COLD.

In late Winter it won't be much better, but your from Chi-Town dress warm you know how, its no colder here than it is there.

I just echo what DI has said and be safe but don't over do it.

I had nobody in the US, just my best friend, she was with me all the time! u know what? this experience was really stressed for me))) coz I had the situation , i would NEVER have in Russia! like I had no place to live, coz we couldnr find smth to rent. we bought a newspaper (russian) and just kept calling every number))) we run to some crazy russian man a few times...they just wanted to live with young girls...u know why :lol: and then, we went to some guys place (we knew them for just 1 day), coz they were the only ppl we knew there, in NY...and we spent 2 days in their house and found a room to rent. but it was a piece of shit, not even room! coz it was SOOOOO dirty, with many mouses.....and shit like this finelly, we mouved to the my friend boss's motel. he is soooooo good and nice person! (he is black btw )he ve been so caring about us! he gave us a big room for the rest of the summer for free! so...thats one of millions story I experienced in the US :lol: but the most scarry was in that club...there was a bumping titties and I was hurt badly ..i was so scarry...it was the night when Cassidy was there...lol
well, I wanna come to the US after I finish my university...it s gonna be hard to get visam coz m not gonna be a student anymore. but I m sure, I will devise smth! coz I really really miss US and I wanna go there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow, that's quite a story. now i see why it was so stressful for you. i'm glad that your best friend was with you there. i can't even begin to imagine what it would have been like if she wasn't there with you. i have a question. why couldn't you girls find anything to rent? did it have something to do with the landlord not wanting to lease out an apartment to you for only a few months?

jeeez, some russian guy only wanted to live with young girls? wow, that's so crazy. that sounds like something off of a CSI episode or something. :lol: sorry for laughing, i just find that to be so odd. i guess i've lived in a bubble for too long, and have never really encountered any real psychos/crazy/deranged people like that. i'm definitely glad you and your friend found another place to stay. that's just plain creepy. that's awesome that the man let you stay in his motel for free. see, i guess there are some good people left in the world amongst all the psychos out there lol.

haha...okay, cool. i'm not too worried about it. being a black man in America, and attending a lot of schools where i was one of the only black faces in the entire place has taught me to not really care about it that much anymore. the only thing in Russia that i was concerned about, was whether i should smile at people or not. i'm kind of a friendly person, and when i'm walking down the street, or am going somewhere, i always smile and greet a person with a hello, even if i don't know them. i heard they don't do that in russia though, so i'm gonna have to get used to that lol.

yea, u seem like u re very friendly and nice person u know, russian ppl re not used to smile to everybody ...maybe u will think that all the ppl re unhappy :lol: but its just different culture dont get them wrong!))) and if u re used to smile, keep do it! ppl love smiling faces!!!!!! no matter what country re they from!!!

okay, i knew that was the reason. i knew it had something to do with them not wanting to give you such a short lease. it's like that everywhere. apartments that have short leases are extremely rare. i live in a college town where there are nothing but apartments, but the landlords still won't give you a place unless you're planning to stay for longer than six months.

You know, that may be partially true. I guess it goes back to being a cultural thing. Even though i might be in a bad mood, i'll still nod and say hello to somebody, just to be polite. What i do is, look a person straight in the eye, and if they meet eyes with me, i'll say hello. But if they keep their head straight forward, or don't even look at me, i won't waste my time trying to be polite to them you know. A smile can really make a persons day, so i try to do it as much as i can. I know sometimes when i'm feeling like crap, and a person gives me a great big smile and a hello, it always makes my day go a little bit better for some reason.

And yeah, you've been a tremendous help to me so far. I've learned a lot from just talking to you. You're a really cool girl. Thanks a bunch. :wink:

I'll be traveling there for spring break, and i'll be there for about 5-7 days most likely. it's not a business trip, just a vacation for me. i'll be with a few friends that live there in Moscow. they're going to be my guides, and show me a good time. it should be really fun. i have been talking to my best friend about actually traveling there with me though, and if he does decide to go, we might take a train to St. Petersburg and see all the tourist attractions there. it's my first time traveling aboad, and i don't want to try and overdo it by trying to see too many places at once though. if i ever go back, i'll definitely try and visit places besides Moscow.
