You are 100% correct on this GrlD. Though it's not the majority of people, there is a small percentage of people who have medical issues that make it much more difficult for them to maintain a healthy weight. All the cardio in the world and a 600 calorie a day diet won't do it for some folks, sadly. I think it's the worst thing to want to change something that is completely out of your control.
That's absolutely true. As I said earlier, I'm in the small percentage thanks to a rare disease, and it pisses me off to no end when I hear people say 'Oh, it's SO simple.' Yeah? Is it? Really?!? It's not. Not for me. Well, Frederick, I may be over 200lbs, but I've run half-marathons at this friggin' weight. What the hell have
YOU done? You don't have to find me attractive, but you do have to show some damn respect because I'm just as much of a human being as those size 6 girls you're chasing after.
Not to mention, I think society does everyone wrong on this end. You have restaurants bitching about showing calorie information on salads that run 2000 calories. They say that people should be able to make their own decisions- well, if you don't give us the information, how misleading is that? People think a salad is healthy, and in most restaurants, it's just friggin' NOT.
Then, we have the issue with hormones and chemicals in the foods that we eat. While it's not really a debate for here, those impact our bodies as well, and we are JUST finding out about the things they can do to a person. Most people don't know enough about food and nutrition to be able to navigate the ridiculous world of food that's out there, and some of them simply can't afford it.
I have been on the other end of the spectrum when I didn't have any money to feed myself, and when I did, I'd have VERY little. So, if I had $6 per day to try to make it work, I was at McDonald's ordering things off the dollar menu, and buying packages of pasta, or $1 frozen meals. Not the healthiest options, but it's what I could afford. When broccoli is coming in at $3 per pound, do you think that someone in my position could have afforded that on my meager budget? No. Not at all.
So get off your high horse and stop insulting people who have issues with their weight. I've made peace with who I am since I'd rather live than die trying to conform to an ideal of beauty I'll never be able to reach. You have stuff to say, keep it to yourself.
That goes for everyone. I would never tell you who to like, or lecture you about it, so stop coming in this thread and lecturing any of us about a healthy lifestyle. It's arrogant, condescending, annoying, and IGNORANT.
