Tonight I witnessed a middle aged woman get punched in the face by some young dude on the train. When she got on, she saw that his group of friends had been throwing trash around the train and she asked them about it. I wasn't exactly tuned into the conversation, neither of them were raising their voices at all, but the woman had stood up and was leaning into him talking to him when he punched her straight in the mouth. A couple of people came to her aid, but clearly people were hesitant to get involved, me being one of them. Now I feel bad for not doing anything (not that I could have done anything, really...). The boys got off the train at the next stop and the woman a few stops later. I guess the woman probably should have minded her own business and kept to herself, but she was in no way threatening. The violence was so uncalled for.. what possesses these young boys to react like that? Maybe this isn't exactly newsworthy, maybe this kind of thing happens all the time, but it shook me up. :smt009
I would be shaken up as well. Witnessing violence of any kind usually evokes an emotion of some sort. I'm not someone who tends to "jump" into the middle of confrontation. But, the idea of young men punching a woman would be enough for me to get involved. I can't imagine any occasion when words spoken by a woman would be sufficient to justify violence against her. Better to tell her to get lost at most, or just walk away.
That's what I thought, if she was pissing him off so much he could have called her every dirty name under the sun before he had to lay hands on her.
I feel bad. I think it's directly related to how many mojitos I drank last nigt. Whikle in my whole life I have never witnessed any such thing. It is not the norm. Those guys weren't raised right.
I've seen that type of thing happen before, & it's pretty unsettling. I can recall two incidents I've seen & two I experienced myself.
Hi Blonde, and welcome. You should go to the Welcome Center and create a post announcing yourself there. Everyone will see it and give you a proper welcome there. Cheers.
One of my battle buddies will not stop talking about Starcraft 2. He's been going on about it for over a month now. He's like "wanna chill in my room and see me play it?" I'm like "Fuck that. I'm going back to my room. I got the itis and am sleepy.

Hey you, maybe not advertising the actual thread names in the section where you don't need a user name to look at it, isn't the best idea. ;-) Email webbie privately.
had one of those perfect autumn days today. it's been drizzling all day so we've been stuck indoors. started off with the kids making their own beds and playing quietly in their bedroom and letting me 'sleep in', and it just kept getting better. the tv has not been on, there's been no arguing, just happy imaginations at work...heard something about the planks of woe at one point lol. to top all this off we went for a walk up to the grocery store this afternoon (30 min round trip) as it stopped raining and we needed some fresh air & i witnessed my beautiful children pulling their scooters to one side to let an elderly gentleman walk past them, and then they wished him a good morning. i was so beyond proud that i actually got teary.
