DC Comics Extends Absolute Green Arrow


DC Comics is extending Absolute Green Arrow from six issues to twelve, writer Pornsak Pichetshote announced on Instagram. Illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque, the series has sold well: issue #1 ranked second in units and dollars among comic shops in May (behind only Absolute Batman #20), and issue #2 landed in the top five on both charts in June.

Pichetshote credited the success to series architect Scott Snyder and DC's editors, adding that he was surprised the project got greenlit at all, given how cautious the company felt during his time there as an employee.

Children of Blood and Bone First Look

Children of Blood and Bone—Paramount's fantasy epic based on Tomi Adeyemi's 2018 YA novel, the first in her Legacy of Orïsha trilogy—hits theaters January 15, 2027.

Set in the West African-inspired kingdom of Orïsha, the story follows Zélie Adebola after she witnesses her mother and other magic-wielding "maji" killed on the orders of a ruthless king who outlawed magic. Blessed with powers by the gods, Zélie teams up with a princess to summon the gods and topple the oppressive regime.


Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone stars Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, and Tosin Cole, featuring Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo; Lashana Lynch; Zackary Momoh; Richard Mofe-Damijo; Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor; Academy Award winner Regina King; Idris Elba; and Academy Award winner Viola Davis.

Marvel Studios has released the official trailer and poster for Avengers: Doomsday, which will open in theaters on December 18, 2026.

 

This looks great! I like the cast, to be sure.

The Odyssey was great! I never before thought of Homer’s work as a meditation on the horrors of war and PTSD. It made me think.

I have confidence in James Gunn's filmmaking skills, but the DCU release plan is stupid in my opinion. We are two years into the New DCU and no Batman, no Wonder Woman, and no Flash. Supergirl was a flop and the next big release is a 2nd tier Batman villain body horror story.

 

I'm genuinely more hyped to see live-action Clayface than Avengers: Whatchamacallit. That movie will make tons of money even if the trailer is a big yawn and the actors look bored.

 

They are rolling out that second Reeves/Pattinson Batman movie before they roll out any DCU Batman. They are going to get as much money as possible from that particular version of Batman before they roll out a new & different version with the DCU take. Money is first & foremost with the studios.

 

The Reeves/Pattinson version isn't releasing it's sequel until 2028, which means we probably wont get a DCU version of Batman until 2029, but probably 2030 at the earliest. 5 years after Superman, That is insane for a cinematic universe. I think they should debut one of the remaining big named characters in the next Superman movie.

 

Still laughing at the hatemongers who believed downvoting the Odyssey trailer on YouTube would derail a director like Christopher Nolan.
