Awesome I cringe whenever I hear somebody, even those in a position of power, use that word in any given circumstance. It's the equivalent of using "swag" and other outdated words.
Cult words and expressions that are "en vogue" for a while and over-used get on my nerves. For instance yolo really annoys me
I got you, she's saying she doesn't like the improper use. I'm seeing that a lot of people don't like the improper use of some words, whether people know that they are using them improper or not.
Yep. And I'll add orientate and preventative to the "words that aren't words but people continue to use anyway" category. As a personal pet peeve, I hate hate hate the pop culture words for peoples' sexual organs: va-jay-jay (that's something a 10 year old would say) and junk. I hate when men refer to their private parts as junk. It's not junk. Stop calling it that!!! (sorry just some pet peeves of mine)
I did not know preventative wasn't a word. I've learned from this thread. Also, I was going to add this later, but you provided the perfect "segue." Ginie, Giny, jinie, whatever. ji-nee.
I only recently found out about preventative. To me "preventive" sounds like an unfinished word. LOL. And many people use them interchangeably, but the correct word to use is "preventive".
