What's going on with you 2.0?

Thank you for the well wishes, beautiful ladies. :smt058 We had a rough time with Mom after surgery. She was in a lot of pain, nauseated and disoriented. Then, she basically did a 180 overnight on Wednesday and was able to come home yesterday morning. She's doing well now, except for the fact that she is basically helpless because of the back brace she is in. I'm staying with my parents at night to help and was up with her every hour to help her move. Needless to say, I'm not sure how effective that I am at work today. LOL

My dad's lung specialist called after they got Mom home from the hospital last night. The scan that they did yesterday morning on him showed that he does have a mass in his lungs. The doctor is rescheduling someone else to get Dad in first thing Tuesday morning for a biopsy. The doctor apologized to Dad and told him that it didn't look good.

I'm struggling with working and helping to take care of them right now. So, it looks like I may be MIA on the boards for a while. I just wanted to pop in and give an update. I hope that everyone is doing well. I'm missing you all and can't wait to get back on a regular posting basis. ;)

For some reason, I almost never open this thread. So I had not heard about your Mom, and now your Dad.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. You're a good daughter, those two must have raised you well. Good luck, to you and your family. Hang in there.

GG- I hope your mom is doing well and the biopsy of your dad turns out to be benign. Will keep you in my prayers. Hope you get to hear good news.

GG74 thank you for taking care of your parents and I hope they recover fully and that your life returns to normal soon.

As for me, my leave is over and I am headed back to Iraq tomorrow. We have access to the internet so I still expect be able to check in on my WWBM brothers and sisters.

Thank you for the well wishes and the compliment. There's nothing that I wouldn't do for my parents. They sacrificed a lot for me, and this is the least that I can do for them.

Thank you, GZ. I just saw your post, and I hope that you are doing better. You seem like a wonderful guy, and I wish you all the best. You are in my prayers as well.

Thank you, Sir Nose. I'm glad to hear that you will be able to still check in with us. Thank you for all you do. You and your family are in my prayers as well.

Here is what I posted in another thread about my parents. I thought that I would just quote it here to update this thread as well.

Ladies, I don't even know what to say. Thank you so much. I'm overwhelmed by your love and support that you continually give. It's so strange to feel so close to people that you've never met. I  you all!!!

My mom is still doing well. She is recovering slowly but is making improvements every day. She started trying to come off the pain meds a little early and was in a terrible amount of pain. It took us two days to get the pain back under control, but she is having a pretty good day today.

My dad officially got the results back from his biopsy yesterday, and the mass is cancer. He goes for a PET scan this next week to determine if it has spread to anywhere else in his body. The doctor told us that the mass is significant in size and that surgery would be complicated and that my father has several factors against him. My dad isn't afraid to die; and, if he has to chose between quality or quanity, he will chose quality even if it means doing nothing as far as treatment. We are just waiting for the tests this week to determing treatment options, if any, that are available.

When dad had the biopsy on Tuesday, the doctor had basically told us everything that the tests confirmed yesterday. While Dad was in the recovery room, I had stepped out in the waiting area to call some family and friends. I decided to sit down outside and get my thoughts together. While I was thinking about things, the oddest thought came into my mind. I've never been one to sit and daydream about getting married. I've always felt that if I was meant to get married that it would happen and if I was meant to stay single, that I would. However as I was sitting in the waiting room, I realized that if I ever get married that my dad might not be here to walk me down the aisle. It was such an upsetting thought. I can't imagine a life without my dad. I'm a total daddy's girl.

Speaking of my Irish skin complexion, I developed rosacea several years ago and have to put Metro-gel on my nose every day to keep it away.

I was finally running out of it (after 1.5 years), so I got a refill from the dermatologist when I was there. I got the prescription filled tonight. The last time I got it, it cost me $40. Today it cost me $80. OUCH!! At least it lasts a long time. Whew!

Other than that, I got news from my parents that my brother will definitely be back by this weekend. :smt093

He'll have to stay at my parents house for a bit, but they have a couple of halfway houses and other such housing for homeless people that he'll be going to (hopefully) rather quickly after he arrives.
