To avoid being accused of taking sides, I try to keep a low profile in the forums. But I do have an ad in the personals area. I think it's best to keep them (personal & business) separate.

 

Don't you know that the Lord is against interracial dating? It says so in the Bible. (joking) I've never been accused of having a God complex though.

 

I think the history is quite normal for a site like this. Dating between white women and black men is as much a lightning rod in the dating world, as Hillary Clinton is in the political world.

It would be fun to meet people from this site, but things would definitely change afterward. I used to own and run a BBS (Bulletin Board System) way back in 1992 -- before websites took off -- and the members online used to organize "GTs" (get-togethers) and meet at local bars.

You'll find that some of the people you get along with great online are totally different in person, and some of the folks you may have thought were jerks, turned out to be real nice. So, all the alliances and cliques changed, and everyone started jumping into bed with each other... I am only 1/2 kidding about the jumping into bed with each other part, but that stuff was definitely going on. It wasn't an interracial BBS.

He used to modertate the forums, but I believe it was taking up too much of his time as the site got busier and he had other stuff going on.

 

Most definitely. Of course I am in a unique position to see it more. For instance, I regularly get emails from people in the forums/personals about other individuals.

Sometimes it's a request for someone's contact information, because they have to pass this person a "very important" message. Of course, we do not give out any personal contact information. But most often it's a request to ban or observe someone because of something they've said in the forums. But from what I've seen over the years, this is fairly normal.

When it goes off-line and people meet in person (through parties organized by a website) things tend to get way more personal and contentuous than anything you've seen here so far -- by far.

I'm a black man. But there are four others who have access to the Webmaster account -- three white guys (one is from Lebanon) and one white female. We all work for a large internet company (except the woman), doing mostly system administration, security, and network engineering. I own the business that runs this site and a few others (www.dreammark.com) and the others contract with me or work part-time.

However, for this site, I am the one you'll see logged into this account 99% of time -- for the forums. The others mostly deal with support emails, the personal ads, and backend stuff.

Although the forums seem busy -- because it's the activity most people see -- the personals are way busier and actually generate most of the work (support emails).

None of the others have any issue with the subject of this site, or maintaining it. This site is tame in comparison to the stuff we see at work everyday -- as most of us deal with security, illegal websites, hackers, phishers, spammers, etc. in our regular jobs.
