Well, no, I don't mean in the sense that it is degrading because she is treated badly at the time the photos are taken, but because of the conjunction of her face on that website and what is written about her as an anonymous internet 'slut'. Fair play, it's all some kind of make believe to keep the punters happy, but still, that's her face plastered all over the website and accompanied with insulting text. I've gone over with myself the nu-feminist arguments about porn being as degrading to men as to women and simply a way for women to win economically against an unfair system; but no, it simply doesn't sit right, because on the face of it, you actually have a woman pandering to a system of entertainment which hates other women and thus causing a greater damage than she is reaping economic benefit. It's not even to do with moral judgment, but has more bearing on, say, why I can't understand why a homosexual would want to work for the republican party...just perpetuating what already hates you.

Thank you, yes it is me. I used to never like my smile growing up, i always did a closed mouth smile but lately i smile with my teeth out more. The girl in that pic with me is Tessa, we have been "dating" since August but we are not a "couple" per say....I guess what i mean is we are not committed to each other. We can date other people, so that is why i am allowed to see Brianna (the girl from the porn site). Tessa is also seeing another guy who is prison right now (well a prison for juveniles). She goes to high school.

Brianna as I said goes to my college and we met in biology class and have been seeing each other for a few weeks. I found out basically the same way you all did about her "modeling" profession. After I saw the site she didnt deny it. She isnt ashamed at all and I respect that. Hopefully you all can respect it too (the money ain' t half bad either, as i could tell from her 2002 black Porsche convertible LOL).

i feel you, my brotha. Once a girl in high school said to me, "I'd love to date a black guy to see what its like". My reply was simply, "Unfortunately, you're looking at the wrong person". I didnt say that because i didnt like her or anything of the kind. I said so because i felt slightly devastated that someone would speak of fellow humans like they are objects of exploitation. Believe it or not, that in itself is slavery and more to the point, racist. When i was in college, i exclusively dated white women and a few latinas but i made it clear that i was not doing so out of sexual and stereotypical reasons. I dont want to date a woman because of silly stereotypes. i dont want to date a woman because she is just beautiful. If anyone does that, they're in a little bit of a mess.

Its surprising that, in this year 2006 of our lord, human exploitation, whether physical, verbal or mental, still prevails. I hate it when people say things like wanting to date a black guy "to see what it feels like. But ironic enough, that is how a handful of people feel which is sad. If you've always wanted to date a black guy, why not do it? The answer could simply be found in a socio-mental concept.

Except for a lust for power.

I like your quote Cris, very strong. Where's it from? :)

actually the correct qoute is "the (love) of money is the root of all evil". money itself is not evil, nor is the use of it, but the love and lust for it is.

just like guns dont kill people, people kill people--money is not evil, just the love of it at any cost is evil

It might not be evil, but most bank notes now contain traces of cocaine, so make of that what you will.

People are usually keen to displace responsibility onto somebody (or something) else.

cocaine used in production of bank notes rather than in the use of destroying whole neighborhoods of people and corrupting countries, Id say is a bloody good thing--guess it depends what side the pond you're on

It was put forward by Rodriguez Aida, a hispanic author/philanthropist.

to a certain extent, you are right. but i'd like you to know that the word "root" means that it stems from or is a foundation. Money itself is not evil but if you sinned to acquire it, that is without a doubt evil.

I think I like it because it shows how, to want to make a difference in a world which seems unjust and wired upside down in the most part, is the hard option rather than the easy option. The easy option is to feel comfortable in the unjust world by taking a narrow view, and to sit tight, waiting for death.

exactly. Aida seems like the kind of person who sees life in that perspective. i find a lot of her books and scripts very intriguing and inspiring which is why i am an ardent disciple of her words. why arent you a scholar anyway? Because you seem like a very intelligent brotha.

I'm not a brotha! Maybe you could give me some recommendations of any titles or papers that you particularly like, and I could look them up? I just finished a degree at Cambridge and am now studying law, am definitely a dedicated scholar...currently trying to figure out if there is any way I could stay in full time study without costing parents an arm and a leg. One ambition my partner and I share is to both become Dr ...one day! I'm guessing you do Latin American studies?

oops my bad. i was actually referring to tuckerred there. sorry for the inconvenience. 8)

wow, we're both into the legal field. i am currently doing my vocational training to be a solicitor. i work with some versatile, lucrative solicitors in Florida which is great. i dont know how it works in the UK but here in the US, it takes a long time to actually get on the rolls and be called to the Bar. but i hope for the best. right now, everything is going smoothly.

thats ordinately ambitious. How did you know i do Latin American studies? Was it very obvious?

Well, Cris, as well as being in the same field, I think we're probably headed for the same career - I'm aiming for the English bar myself, although it is tough starting out from a different degree discipline, and a lot to take in all at once, very tired after a day's reading! It has a peculiar charm about it though...wish you luck for the next bit, do you have any job secured yet, or is it a matter of passing exams first? It is incredibly tough in the UK as well, you need to be able to take a knock back but we'll survive! Do you mean you still do Latin American studies, or that was your undergraduate degree? You've mentioned it a few times  - as well as your extracurricular hispanic activities. tehe.

i understand it all. its tough but it all works out for the best when you conquer it all and see all what you'd come to accomplish. you're just geting started, lady.

fortunately no. i have done all my exams and i am starting work next monday- yes thats right next monday- in a solicitors' firm.

its tough everywhere. I have a cousin who lives in London and attends the London School of Economics and he says it isnt a bed of roses either. but hopefully, we'll all be survivors.

i still do it. i actually got a degree in it. i love every bit of it. and yes you're very right about my extracurricular hispanic activities. apart from the fact that i've lived in latin america, i am fascinated with latino culture and love everything about it. And the women too. my girlfriends' family actually mistook me for a dark-skinned latino man and so do many other people. Why? Because i speak Spanish fluently. its a laugh when that happens though.

Dark-skinned hispanic eh? terrific to be able to assimilate like that though...I have endless curiosity about different cultures than our own, and the channels of belief etc running through them, it would be good to be able to wander anonymously through various countries and see how people live but without being in personal danger. Very much looking forward to visiting Ghana with the man in summer and learning some Twi in preparation! Spanish is a very useful language to know but I can't get it to roll off my tongue, seem to be much better with German and French.
