Pepsi Max Commercial

when did i say that? i think any race or group that overreacts to certain stereotypes is being way to over sensitive.

Yeah bro, and Mein Kampf was totally taken out of context.....

For the record, all this bullshit about being a victim for actually looking a bit deeper into a commercial and seeing the racial bias is kinda rediculous. Like people aren't allowed to have an opinion anymore. Talk about blowing things out of proportion.

Interesting thread.

The commercial did exactly what it was suppose to do.....get people to buy pepsi and stir debate.

There's no such thing as bad publicity.

ROFL, oh boy.

The PC police could be out on this one about how it makes black women look.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I think you missed the earlier parts where she was imposing on all the things he enjoyed doing in his private time, like taking his Burger out his Mouth, while in the BATHTUB!!! WTF was THAT!!!! That's taking a SERIOUS shot at black women!

Yep. Anybody could've seen that.

Black women don't jog, so it had to be a white jogger.

That's just cold.:smt005

The commercial was meant to stir up conversation.

That's why they ended it with the blonde haired white girl being hit by the black woman in the park.

It supposed to have a 'read-between-the-lines effect'.

After I saw the commercial, I was wishing that I was the one who had written it. That's exactly what I would've come up with and the direction I would've gone.

The commercial should be entitled "Black Love Hurts"

Wow.:smt042 And why did his wife look more masculine than he did???

So I went out to the store to buy some Pepsi Max after all this talk made me crave for it, now I'm stuck with a dozen of regular Pepsi because they didn't have Pepsi Max. I haven't had pop (soda as some of you call it) in years. I blame you for this.

Whatever.

ROFL

i saw this and instantly thought about coming to the board because i knew once that white girl showed up at the end all the racial subtext would be there and ripe for examination (and ripe for being blown out of proportion). i honestly don't know why this is such a big deal to some people. so many commercials with white couples depict the woman bullying/controlling the husband to make him change, whether it be dieting, being more clean around the house, etc. its not a racial thing...if anything its a gender/marriage thing saying that men have to change once they get married and can no longer do the stuff they did as a bachelor. that wives/women are controlling and always trying to domesticate their man.

and lastly i will say this: the very fact that black women are getting so MAD about this...well doesn't that PROVE the "stereotype" that black women are "extra" and angry about every little thing??? it shows that maybe it is actually a reality and NOT just a "stereotype". they are behaving in the exact same way they say they don't. stereotypes only make people angry when they know theres some truth to it.

Sad but often true, I have heard every thing a black man has been called

Deadbeat
Lazy
No Good
No Ambition
Uneducated
Thugs
Criminals
Drug Dealers
Womanizers

and the list can go on and on. Yet it has never bothered me for 1 second because I know that is not my nature as a black man. So I could care less about how black men are cast. Shit has been a bitch for centuries in America. Am I suppose to lose sleep. Hell no. :)

Yep, pretty much nailed it bro. Especially when you are a mega fortune 500 company entrenched in the global culture. Trust me Pepsi Co. isn't losing sleep, they want to be talked about.

ive noticed that stereotypes always have to be true about black men, but never about bw

There was NO angry, jealous, Black woman stereotype in that commercial. They have the same scenarios with husbands & wives of other races in commercials & tv shows all the time. Ra explained what the commercial was about perfectly. I think there's a lot of grasping at straws going on.

We are dealing here with evil. And it goes without saying that this evil is directed at whites, not at blacks, and at men, not at women. To complain about the double standard implies that if both whites and blacks were targeted, or if both men and women were targeted, it would somehow be ok. But of course that premise is absurd. By their very nature these ads are directed against whites and men. So please let us put less emphasis on the unfairness of the double standard and instead focus on what these ads are actually saying. They are evil directed at whites and men. Period. That's what matters, not that they are not equally directed at all groups.

This is all about affirmative action, look we got a Black President because of white guilt, we get commercials like this because of white guilt. This is all pretty sad.

I DISAGREE.

The ad was funny, and anyone who was offended by this should take a hard look at themselves. It wasn't a "racial" statement, or a moral statement, it was slapstick comedy intended to entice a reaction...LAUGHTER!!! In my case, it worked like a charm. In the meantime, you're all missing the most important thing about this ad...who is the stunning blonde that got hit with the can? She's amazing.

I AGREE.

I'm Late 2 The Party But...

In all honesty in what I just told a friend, the first thing that stuck out to me was the violence against her husband! After that well yeah I can see the ad being controversial in so many ways with the white girl being involved & then getting hit by the black wife & then having them both run away seemingly BEFORE the Po-Pos come! Sexual & racial overtones are all over this ad IMO!

yeah....but the media hasnt really said anything about it....you know when they really review the ads after the superbowl...and no one really pointed it out.

Now if it was a white couple and a white girl ....then would we be talking about this as far as what you are saying ?

LOL.

wait wait.

You cant handlea real strong independent black woman so so so awww damn my credit card got declined . you got five dollars for gas.

WTF?

I hate when I hear those words....

No one wants to try and handle anyone. Either you get along with someone or you don't.

Can you handle a strong independent BW?

racist site caught on to the Super Bowl Ads three days after the game, on February 9th. It appears as if there are some mixed reactions within the posters. Type in .org in place of the ***.

I see it as a good thing because it sends a message. I have seen a lot of White girls flirt and give goofy smiles to Black guys FIRST. Maybe it takes a soda can from their Black women to set these race traitors straight. But seriously maybe this commercial will open some eyes and send out a message to White women that if you keep messing with Black men you will eventually get stomped and your ass beat by a gang of Black women who want nothing more to punish you for stealing their Black men away. I see this commercial as a good thing.

Remember mud sharks. They don't like you and will never except (no, it's accept) you into their Black Culture or Hip Hop Culture no matter how many mixed breed kids you pop out from their Black men. THEY HATE YOU more than anything and will hate your kids even more. Trust me on this.

Boycotting PepsiCo? I don't think a multinational corporation with billions in annual net revenues is going to care what a few people from a forum think about their marketing. Do not fool yourself into believing that they might just have some sense of morals, as it is all about the money for them. Our time and energy should be focused on politics, not complaining to these heinous monstrosities that are the inevitable symptoms of capitalism in an unjust government.

couldnt have said it better. people dont think before they speak. they just say shit thinking it is cute

they talked about this on TVONE roland martin. he defended the ad but a woman who wrote a book called Black Woman Redefined: Dispelling Myths
and Discovering Fulfillment in the Age of Michelle Obama tried to say it was playing into the stereotypes
