Well you have to do what you have to do. That's why I'm just willing to turn my head or look at something else.

No big deal to me, nothing to me is more natural than a woman nurturing her child in such a bonding way.

I fully support it and have no issues. Nothing erotic, horny or sexy about a woman nursing a child, its basic nature and therein lies the beauty of it to me, very natural.

It doesn't bother me at all. If a baby is hungry it needs to be fed no matter where he is. I haven't seen a woman do it lately. I think it's done so discretely that others rarely notice.

No, it's not. Australians have issues with it too. It's a human hang-up.

I've seen women use a scarf or baby blanket to cover their breast and the baby while breast feeding in public...that's the way (IMO) it should be done always (in public). No need to expose your breast to the world. If you have to do it, cover up.

I never said other countries arent bothered w an exposed boob. I always said it should be covered up. I never heard this being an issue in Europe - again, with the boob covered up.

    Hardly.

There is nothing uncomfortable with an exposed breast in public and the forms that it can take range from breastfeeding to political protest to recreation. You name it and it's all good.

this is exactly what im talking about. She is for the most part covered. You can see more exposed breast in a beer commercial sans the back of a babys head than you can in this image. And yet people have to get all..cover that up? Come on.

Ummm...yes. She needs to cover up if she's in public. I'm sorry, but it's not appropriate (although that was clearly done for the photographer).
It's not that difficult to cover up and it does nothing negative to the baby, the baby's ability to feed or the mother's ability to feed the baby in public. But it does wonders for people around you, and a bit of respect for the people around you is worth a LOT.
Just because someone has children doesn't mean they can do what ever the hell they like.

Breastfeeding in public has made quite a wave in the news lately, especially in cultures however forward thinking they seem and deem themselves to be "proper and civilized", and however proper and civilized are defined...

I believe that some part of the societal discourse, including opinions here, reflect an association of the female breast with the sexual connotation delivered by a media that has made billions from exploiting the human female breast something sacred and worth the extra money for a peek.

I also believe that we've come to accept some things as norms and taboos, female body parts and exposure thereof being prime among those things.

Interestingly, we haven't adapted the same attitude toward animals feeding a litter or a single critter...

Have we come so far forward to go so far back?

    Fuel for the fire....

I've often noticed that people with kids love to inconvience and impose their children on everyone else. Just got a neighbor whose kid loves to hang out on the stoop which makes the building look ghetto and makes it hard to pass back and forth. When I said something to her her response was where else can he hang with his friends? How about inside you're fricking apartment genius. Your kid's social life isn't my problem

I think my whole point is lost.
In my very first post on this subject I said exactly what you said. Covering up in public is just good manners.
The point im trying to make here is the inconsistancy of the whole argument. People who would make a bloodly deal over seeing a reproduction of that picture and open their mouth about it wouldn't think twice about showing sex to sell beer. That's my point. I gues one's better than the other because drinking one gets you laid by women who in their right mind wouldn't ever touch you (and not YOU..but just...whatever). It's so inconsistant how advertising can use the female body for profit but should it be shown for it's original purpose (boobs were made to feed babies not sell beer) that's wrong on every level.

Wow..as a parent this is just so offensive. I can't even begin to tell you how offensive that first sentence is. Yes, there are very terrible parents out there that do inconvience the masses with their offspring. But all in all these are the type of people who probably shouldn't be breeding.
Take babies on a plane. Theres this whole argument about right vs wrong. In the case of a parent who has to deal with a crying baby before they can calm the child down (which admittedly can take time. Are you ever fully comfortable on a plane? well imagine how a child who can't even comfort itself or speak up about what's bothering it might feel) is not inconviencing the people around them. The parent that just lets the child cry because they are too lazy to deal with it IS being an ass. But then that becomes a whole other argument.

I don't think that boobs in a beer commercial are appropriate. Although, have you seen Aussie beer commercials? Very few -if any- boobs in them...mostly they're just blokes hanging out and being stupid.

I think women with their boobs hanging out in commercials and in public is a different subject to breast feeding. I don't approve of women with their tits hanging out in public in any circumstance.

I know you said that women should cover up the boob, originally, but then you approved of the half naked woman (yes she's damn near half naked!) in that picture you quoted. That's what I was referring to.
