aw, your students were nice! one of my bellydance students is a pastry chef (?) and the class aftr my bday she showed up with a bunch of sweet things for me she made at work We sat down on the floor and ate like little bellydancing pigs, lol. Nebula, just cook it as you would cook normal rice... how about rice with peppers and and a little bit of onion or pickle onions? cook the vegetables aside in a pan with spices and olive oil and everything. make sure you keep the whole thing juicy (add some water if u need to) and the add veggies on plain boiled rice. rayer: You can do it with any vegetable anyways... oh, olives are great to add to the mix also.
For Breakfast this morning, I had hashbrowns, a cinnamon roll with vanilla icing, and a cup of hot cocoa. Hehehe it tasted good. :3
Thanks, Arwen I have the onions, peppers, and olive oil, so I'll definitely try it out. Tbf, all I really want is some flavor- I'm trying to eat healthier and I miss the overpowering flavor of unhealthy foods at times.
As your body adjusts if you try to go back to shitty foods, when you eat them your body will feel bad...and your stomach will feel sick. Your body knows when things are good for it. Stick it out. Brown rice is much healthier than white. The process to convert brown to white rice destroys most all of the nutrients. So good for you.
Yes, all I eat now is whole gluten-free grains, healthy oils/fats, fresh fruits and veggies, and lean meats...etc but I love food, so hopefully my body adjusts sooner than later
I've been on that for quite some time now. I'm allergic to dairy, wheat, melons, eggs, bananas, certain nuts. I've managed to get around it and still enjoy eating. It is a real pain in the ass though. I get jealous of people that don't have the food allergies that I have. On the bright, side worrying about weight is less of a concern now (not that it ever was to begin with) and I am now developing an 8 pack of abdominal muscles.
My favorite way to eat brown rice is with butter, sea salt and some fresh squeezed lemon juice. I love to make soup and I often add rice to soup as a filler.
Nebula: here is something I love w brown rice.. Tilapia - brown it a bit - then pour over a can of coconut milk, throw in 2 cut-up lemon grass stalks and a few kaffir lime leaves (or just lime rind), garlic, salt, pepper and a little tumeric for color, cook for 15 minutes. Easy peasy and tastes fantastic! I am cooking goat cheese and spinach stuffed salmon. I usually eat that with broccoli, mushrooms and other veggies but I think I cheat and serve it over pasta today
FG, two questions: Doesn't the tilapia get soggy when you cook it the extra 15 minutes? And, I tasted goat cheese at the market once and I didn't care for it. I see it in alot of recipes though - does it taste different when you heat it?
