Trayvon Martin's Murder

[/b]

Excellent post, Bookie.

Here, the Media call the continual murders of BM, "a cheap story". (and to some degree, the murder of a WM is not much newsworthy, either - they need that racial spin to profit from it).

And why?
Because they know it doesn't rile people to march on court-steps, it just doesn't. It is what it is and it's been that way for easily 25 years.

What is also not lost on me is that President Obama and Eric Holder are also fanning the flames because it distracts from THEIR own problems - the IRS scandals, the Drones, Benghazi, the "Fast & Furious murder of the Border Agent, and the NSA spying on U.S Citizens, the Media, and our Foreign Leader Allies.

Holder also knows he's not going to file charges and win a conviction, because the FBI did a thorough investigation on 'if GZ's is a racist' already, and gave the report to Holder. So what is the purpose to perpetuate otherwise, if not to distract?

Yep. It's called misdirection.

Whilst everyone is up-in-arms about one thing, the government is busy doing not so legal things and getting away with it.

Quit trying to make your opinions & views "inalienable truths", because someone can post up stats supporting views & opinions you don't agree with and you would claim they were biased. SMDH.

Man, you are reaching and squirming all around the issue, .......the issue is the substance of Bookie's piece.....Her piece is a comprehensive account of the broad picture.....It is better worded and more detailed than anything I could ever surmise-- but it does reflect my thinking.......Now, until you can read to educate your self to be able to concede or refute her arguments, this petty back and forth is a waste of time.....Now again, I ask you to read to see if you can deny any of the underlined points she makes:

Do you feel better now?
My our own "shotty" legal system, had it happened the other way around, and Trayvon had killed Zimmerman, Trayvon could have easily (and probably would have) been tried as an ADULT.

He was not a frightened "child". Give me a break. The dude stood at 5'11".

And if you read the transcript of GZ's 911 call, he states that Trayvon ran and he couldn't find him. That sounds like he was out of danger right there.

People are defending Zimmerman on this thread? Where?

Are you referring to me? Because I refuse to get riled up and manipulated by the media and Sharpton? In my personal opinion, this is not a clear cut case of racism. There are too many things that are just unknown about how Martin and Zimmerman ended up fighting and one getting killed.

And had Zimmerman been black, there would be no media coverage, no Al Sharpton and no President Obama speaking about Trayvon's death. They wouldn't even know about it.

I'm just really tired of the hypocrisy of the "outrage" at this murder. Like Trayvon's life was more important than the thousands of innocent African-Americans being shot and killed on the streets of every major city in this country on a daily basis.

But because they're shot by gang members, the media doesn't give a shit about them. They can't make money off of peoples' clicks on their websites with those stories.

Remember Hadiya Pendleton? She made news for what, like a week after her murder? But the media stopped showing her picture because she was killed by a gang member. There was no Obama claiming that Hadiya could have been his daughter. Michelle Obama was not out saying that Hadiya could have been her 35 years ago. Why? Because she had the "unfortunate luck" of being killed by a gang member. So somehow, her death weighs less than Trayvon's.

Their business booms if they continue keeping racial tensions alive and kicking.

There are absolutely, without a doubt, clear-cut cases of white racism on blacks, but in this case, in my personal opinion, it's ambiguous at best. If Zimmerman had uttered a racial slur on the 911 call, I'd be more inclined to say otherwise, but I don't think it's that simple to just claim racism in this particular case.

Am I defending what Zimmerman did? Not by a long shot, but I'm hesitant to jump on the racism bandwagon with this one. So therefore, my opinion differs from others. Last time I checked, I was allowed to form my own opinion on this matter.

Its so counter intuitive to everything I see and here as far as the culture of race in this country goes. Its really hard to believe. Btw Bliss wouldn't it be 26%extra disparity.

The 13% I noted is based off the addum information I volunteered to Jaisee (that he didn't ask for).
I was comparing the disparity that when a Black person kills a Black person, they get off 60% of the time.
When a White person kills a Black person, they walk 73% of the time.

Of course you are correct to use the 26% when/if viewed from the disparity when a Black kills a White, versus a White killing a Black.

It would be easy to just run with those statistics, as they do support the claim that justice is not as colorblind as the system would have us believe. However, I do know all too well that statistics alone are not so cut and dry. There is a story to tie into each killing represented in those statistics that can pendulum the discussion.

I agree with you. Every case is different, every defendant and his victim is different along with the scenarios - and all of them reflect why a walk or a conviction number is added.
It would be an interesting examination though, and to keep an open mind that it may provide awareness of facts that we may find surprising, or not.

You like so many keep confusing what the outrage is about and most likely will never get it. Its not just about who killed TM its how the case was handled and more importantly the character assassination of this kid after the fact. Its like even if you are minding your own business not bothering a soul you are automatically guilty and should comply with the requests of any stranger tracking you at night. Bookie you're full of shit right now kid.

Yes, because character assassinations only ever happened in this case? Forget about the character assassinations that happen to every woman who claims she was raped.

And just because you view what happened a certain way does not mean that is the way it happened.

God forbid George Zimmerman was actually telling the truth. No, that is definitely not a possibility because George Zimmerman is not black, so of course he's a liar and a racist.

For the record, since I wasn't there and there weren't any witnesses, I'm choosing to not jump to conclusions.

You just don't and can't get it my friend. No hard feelings my friend.

Yes, poor little white girl doesn't and can't understand.

Sir. I would appreciate if you would stop wasting your time and energy with your feeble attempts at trying to indoctrinate me into your way of thinking & viewing of the world. I repeat: Nothing that Bookworm expressed in her posts sways me in my opinion or views. Why do you keep insisting that if I read her post over & over again that somehow I will concede whatever "truth" that YOU see in her post? It's her opinion & you agree with it. I don't. What is your disconnect with this simple fact?

I bet you had no problem jumping to conclusions in the Casey Anthony case.
I don't have to jump to anything you follow a minor (happy) with a loaded weapon you forfeit self defense period the end.
Don't pull the poor little white girl bs. There are plenty of ww on here who aren't quick to dismiss this case like you. Good try though.

He was not a frightened "child". Give me a break. The dude stood at 5'11".

Trayvon weighed around 158lb. He was fighting a man that was 200 lbs.
To put this into perspective, he weighed less than the average american woman. He wasn't going to win against a 200 pound man.

Lebron james was 6'1 in 8th grade. Is this really how we make judgement on who is a child and who is an adult? Is there a height requirement to be an adult now?

And if you read the transcript of GZ's 911 call, he states that Trayvon ran and he couldn't find him. That sounds like he was out of danger right there.

Even if I accept the fact that he did do this, that would mean that he was a scared child. People don't run if they aren't scared. Also, I can't understand how someone can say it isn't clear and yet decides to use GZ's transcript as the truth.

We are all aware of the prejudice of the media. The media spent how many hours on Casey Anthony. How many people white, black and everything else had been murdered?
This isn't new. same old same old

I feel that Zimmerman made a call on either race or on how the kid was dressed but I feel that given this guy's record of battery on a police officer and domestic violence on a woman that he is not the guy with a gun to fear a boy.

So for the first time, you stayed on track in admitting you read or saw what it entailed... and you essentially reject it because you found no truth in it and because it goes contrary to your thinking........I just found it peculiar that as well crafted as I found it to be, that you personally, never attempted to refute her post directly.......

Sorry,I always question conservative data to make Mr.Z free and justified. I wonder on those stats of Black males minding their own business and being shot dead for no reason by Whites?

Trayvon weighed around 158lb. He was fighting a man that was 200 lbs.
To put this into perspective, he weighed less than the average american woman. He wasn't going to win against a 200 pound man.

Just going by the evidence: Trayvon was measured at 5ft 11 and weighed 158 pds,
with an estimation of half his blood lost.

Zimmerman was weighed and measured that same night: 5ft 7 and 175pds.

At his arrest 2 months later, he was measured at 5ft 8 and 200pds.

I feel that Zimmerman made a call on either race or on how the kid was dressed but I feel that given this guy's record of battery on a police officer and domestic violence on a woman that he is not the guy with a gun to fear a boy.

He definitely profiled Martin, he even said it in his call to 911, telling the dispatcher they has a spate of recent break-ins.

GZ's criminal record was covered in the trial:

* He was charged with 'battery upon an officer' after arguing with a cop who arrested his friend, so the cop arrested GZ. Charge was later reduced to “resisting officer without violence”.

* He and his ex filed co-restraining orders against each other, both were granted.

I don't think he feared him either, otherwise why follow him?
On the 911, he expressed concern to the dispatcher to give his address out because he 'didn't know where (TM) was'.
After that, for 4 minutes we don't know what happened until the 911 calls by others began.

What is your malfunction? It's her opinion. I'm not trying to refute or concede anything. Unlike you I'm not in here debating anyone's points or trying to convince anyone that they are right or wrong in their opinions. Go find someone else who actually wants to engage you in this type of discussion because that's not me. Book smart & well read you may be but you seem real slow on the up take on a whole lot of things.

Stop addressing dude. His feelings about bm is well noted no matter what argument you have his mind will never change. Let dude live his truth I just hope he never finds himself at the mercy of his masters.

Like I said I'm not in here trying to change his or anyone else's mind on anything, but it's clear that's exactly what he's trying to do for whatever reason. It's like he's on some recruitment drive or something.....

19. If you say, but “what about the 90%+ of black men killed by other black men?,” after all, shouldn’t black people be more concerned about “black-on-black crime?”; without realizing that says nothing about race and violence since 86% of white people are killed by another white person—because crime, is in significant part, a function of proximity and opportunity.

20. Considerably crazier, if you think like Mark O’Mara, that if Zimmerman had been black, he “never would have been charged”—since men of color are apparently living high on the hog in our criminal justice system (despite all evidence to the contrary)—then you just might be on another planet.

I always looked at #19 from a different angle, but that's a pretty good point too.

Either way, I love those two especially.
