All challenges aren't created equal though. Being a ww in america isn't a bad set up, trust me. You might be giving our "challenges" more credit than they deserve It's great to respect that we all deal with something, but don't trivialize what bm deal with on a daily basis just to try to show support to ww. That's all I'm saying. I know no other way :smt058
Again thank yo for saying that. There are too many slow as people who conflate the idea of equal rights with equal oppression
Oh of course....there are differences but still there something to bring to the table. We bm should recognize u guys catch hell too. If anybody that has no room to complain...thats white men. They abused their wives , kept them from voting , forced women to be dependent on them...so on and so forth. Thats why i say ww can identify with blacks...not to the extent but can. They just dont recognize it as a whole.
We all have our own journeys... BM and BW have been grievously abused and tortured throughout history, there is absolutely no doubt about that. Injustices abound today, even here in the great ol' US of A. And as much as I agree with what Raider is saying, I feel that I must point out that women are still taken as slaves today, all over the world. There are still women as sexual slaves in the US. This does not in any way diminish what has happened to groups with a history of slavery and I know this will make me again, immensely unpopular. But it's a reality today. Within the US, generally a North American born person who has white skin, can have privelidge based on their skin colour. But unfortunately, having a vagina makes you a target all over the world, including here as well. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/war-against-women/ It doesn't mean one group is suffering more than another, or one group is the greater victim, I simply recognize that we each have our unique journey. I just wish for a day, and I know this is tremendously naive, when humans would treat each other and all living things with at the very least, some basic respect to their right to life. Let the hate mail begin....
Interesting point but when you open the lens that wide you again have to include all the black and brown men being slaughtered because of military occupations and civil war. Young boys being forced at gun point to kill, yes we all suffer on some level but opening the lens beyond the scope of the context of where we're talking about trivializes our struggles. I'm not trying to be mean but what were you really trying to make? And lets be fair Athena in most of the world your whiteness coupled with your North Americaness shields you from a lot of the bs associated with your femaleness. Which brings us back to what we were talking about, in a racialized world skin matters more especially in the states. I think mothers of black kids especially sons see it morw clearly they see how different things are they don't have the luxury of tuning out. The recent bs thats been going has really educated me on this. I see it in friends and even womeb I've dated. Barely anyone calls bs on what's going on they feel like its not really their problem.
Really With the exception of first world countries, women are absolutely shit on Read about the body mutilation in Africa, the stoning in the Middle East, or the sex slaves being sold all over the gotdamn place To keep bitching about how hard you have it to women is laughable in a male dominated world You can't run that woeth me shit with a black woman, obviously (they'll look at u like ur crazy), but u can do that shit all day with a ww and have them feel sorry for u Makes you wonder
Actually americans are hated ....ww are considered high commodity for the slave trade....i kind of believe that holloway chick that vandeer sloot was suppose to had killed. I think she got snatched..
True in the world wide ..here in america are gender discriminated . Uhh wait. She said women. I was agreeing with her. Women all over catching hell. Here we are talking...shit i forgot
People in the third world are suffering period. I seriously don't get why we make distinctions. How about just treating everyone like a damn human being full stop
What's going on is rampant racism. I'm not denying that. Living here in the US has shown me how much racism is really alive and well. It's not nearly this bad back home. But if you think women are in any way shielded because they are white, I would a million times disagree. I knew this conversation would become a "who has it worse" situation as soon as I wrote it. But I am trying to speak my mind, trying to open up here on this forum and contribute something of substance. I knew I'd get shot down by several posters for my opinion. But there it is.
You're welcome. God forbid a woman speaks up about oppression. "Simmer down bitch, get back in the kitchen and shut up." BWAAHAHAHAHAH *evil laugh*
