Halle Berry claims ex called her the N word

Yeah I grew up and was surrounded by your people and believe me I know them to and from everything I've experienced and have seen on white people as a whole those of you who fear blacks won't stop fearing blacks just because you find out they have white family.
And truthfully "my white family" doesn't sound like the speech of a well educated man.
I'm jamaican and I could never imagine myself saying "my jamaican family" to make a point to a bunch of jamaicans. There would be subtle hints but not that. I could be wrong but I don't get the stragety.

He says my white mother, my white grandmother something like that. Let me find that one I know.

Alot of white people are just ignorant. They fear the unknown. It was passed down generation after generation black people were this, this, and that. They just failed to get outside their little box and discover for themselves it's all a load of shit they were feed. The believe it and don't even know why. Hearing the man was raised by a white mother and a white grandmother just like themselves that has the same values as they do that they have been to ignorant to believe that black folks have too does in fact gives some of these people comfort. Ofcourse I'm not saying this is always the case cause it certainly isn't. There is still lots of racist that don't care. Hell there is some that would probley still hang me if I told them I too have black ancestors. And they'd damn sure hang my ass for being with black men having mixed babies.

Dre, Bama used it, you cant blame him, he is a politician and that is the name of the game. You got to do what you go to do. The same way Romney stated he was an avid hunter to garner votes from southern folks (he never hunted b4, went to hunting trip once)

Another lesson, since someone mentioned the Packers, I dont really care for them but you got to admire Lombardi back in the sixties faught injustice for his blk players. " If you cant accomodate all of us but only some of us, then the hell with you, we're going somewhere". He changed the views of local diners, shopping centers and most business owners.

yeah.....he said "these ni$$$ can run"

Are you kiddding? In America if you can "pass" its more likely you will claim white and if you do claim black its to make a political statment of some kind where white people commend you for your horseshit bravery and blacks(or some other non black group) get to idoly claim you as if it really matters. At the end of the day you are what you look like period. Obama is half white and was entirely raised around and by white people and attended ivy league schools. If the man claimed to be white too he would have been lucky to be elected to president of the fricking PTA.

Exactly. Race is a game that has been played in this land for generation. It is not about Genotype in America, it is about Phenotype and what you look like. America loves to put you in the BOX, she hates ambiguous & likes to classify each and everyone. If you have 90 % white gene and 10 % of black gene but if any of your future looks a representation of Africa, you're black PERIOD. If 90 % of your gene is Blk and 10 % is white but somehow you are passable (look white), then America is going to consider you White.

Obama has been asked about this half a dozen of time, despite his white mother and white upbringing, Columbia or Harvard did not think he was a white or interracial kid, he was considered blk. Cab drivers in NY were not pulling for him, he realized what was up and played along with it and look where he has gotten, to the white house.

RACE is a muthfuggin game and it aint changing anytime soon.

Negative. He mentioned his family just like every politician. How is he any different from Clinton who also had a single mother he mentioned all the time. I doubt his white upbringing had much to do with his likeability he's just very charismatic. At the end of the day he still has brown skin and as we've discussed before that's all people see regardless of background or accomplishment. I agree him having a black wife definitely worked in his favor with voters but his white background makes very little difference

what is your point? Malcom X, Du Bois and other civil right leaders are mixed, but were considered Blks. Professor Skip Gates is mixed and has white wife meanwhile he was harassed by a white cop in his own home.

Another point, marrying a WW and procreating with her does not mean you're negleticng you community "black community" whatever that means in America. Fredrick Douglas was married to WW, lots of civil right leaders and NAACP leaders were married to WW or courted WW.

Great posts guys.

Before my son was born, it amazed me the number of family members & "well meaning" people who expressed the hope that my son would be able to "pass". There is no way in hell my beautiful baby could "pass". Yes, I raised him & I'm white, but that shit isn't going to impress anybody or make one bit of difference in how people see him.

I hear you fam. I just have a hard time figuring out who they were trying to appeal to with that kind of speech. Those who were nervous about him being black weren't going to look at his white family and suddenly think he's ok. If being a Harvard law professor didn't do that I doubt his white family would do that. The voters who voted for him just wanted a change and were fed up with how badly the Republican party fucked everything up. The saw McCain as more of the same and Palin was the worst idea for a running mate which put him over the top. I really doubt the voters that voted for him cared about his white upbringing they were just tired of the right fucking everything up.

Dre, I agree with most of you pts, ppl who were nervous about him being black were not going to vote for him based on one speech. The speech is just a poltical tactic. Poltics is dirty you got to do what you got to do. BTW, Bama was not a law prof @ Harv.... he was @ University of Chicago, tho both respected schools one is Ivy and the other is just a top tier,

Fair enough. I just have a hard time seeing who that was gonna appeal to. Its like me going to prison and telling dudes I hung out in the bronx when I was a teenager. They're gonna take one look at my nerdy ass and say so the fuck what. What people see you as is all that matters to them and I don't get what political strategist would think that would be smart.
