Actress and influencer Olivia Culpo and Ty Hodges will star in Venus as a Boy, a romantic drama that was written and directed by Hodges.

The indie follows Hunter, a struggling street artist in Los Angeles who falls in love with Ruby, a high-powered social media influencer and model from New York, after a chance encounter. Before they know it, they’ve spent an entire weekend together, creating their own universe. It’s not until the harsh light of reality shines on their fantasy do they have to determine if they are actually right for each other. These two millennials navigate getting to know each other while dealing with identity, social influence and what it really means when you constantly live your life behind a lens.

Here's the trailer for "Venus as a Boy":

From writer/director Ty Hodges and starring Ty Hodges, Olivia Culpo and Trace Lysette Venus as a Boy – Available this September.

RELEASE DATE: September 2021
DIRECTOR: Ty Hodges
CAST: Ty Hodges, Olivia Culpo, and Trace Lysette

I watched this years ago . . . it was on Amazon and just bored me honestly. There are a couple faith-based Christian movies on Amazon like this one with interracial themes though. I even purchased one called "Where is the GOOD?" [The Director's Cut]. I will post the trailer tomorrow.
Same here, I couldn't get through it (and I'm a Christian lol). I believe it's really short too, maybe an hour or less. But I still couldn't finish it.

Here's the trailer for "Where is Good?":

Is there an actual wwbm couple in this movie, or just it just implied or something? This flick must've seriously had about a $100 budget; these people clearly just love making movies, why else do this? Poor Cece Peniston must've had her checks from "Finally" dry up on her lol

Exactly and I wanted "Eternity" to be good but . . . it just wasn't good enough to finish lol. The Director's Cut of "Where is GOOD?" was very entertaining by contrast and I had to buy it because . . . why settle for the toned-down / watered down version? The ending was very surprising too and I hope you take the time to rent it . . . I was really pulling for the black guy that the pretty Christian Blonde protagonist talks to in the supermarket towards the end to put his bid in :)

I wouldn't have purchased the movie if it wasn't worth it. You have to make your own decision but I am happy to add it to my Amazon library of IR movies. It is faaaar more entertaining than "Eternity" which I stopped watching so I could see if "Where is GOOD" was any good. Then I read the reviews on Amazon and learned there was a Director's Cut with more Mature Adult material than the basic version. The movie is not poorly made . . . the homes and interiors of the homes all look good and the camera is 1080i. If you choose to rent it on Amazon you will see how good it is . . . I just like crime movies on Lifetime anyway and this is much darker and disturbing if you get the Director's Cut. It is rare to see a Republican Christian movie that is based on a true story that goes to the places that "Where is GOOD" goes into . . . I don't want to spoil it but it really surprised me. I watch a lot of TUBI so I know what you mean by cheap $100 budget as those are the horror movies I reject during the trailer and this movie is not short on money . . . not many of those Republican Christian movies are?

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm definitely more curious to see it now. But just to be clear, there IS an actual wwbm couple here?

If you only purchase films that you think are worth it, You should make a list of the indie IR films that you ended up purchasing. You're always randomly mentioning films that, unfortunately, nobody had previously posted about in this subforum, so we never knew to even check for those film.

BTW, that "Kiss the Cook" romcom film I posted about is exclusive to a faith-based streaming service: https://my.upfaithandfamily.com/kiss-the-cook.

So I assume "Kiss the Cook" is also a faith-based film.

You just have to rent it . . . I have already nearly spoiled this movie lol. The trailer told me enough on Amazon to spend a couple quarters on it. The ending of the movie leaves you with enough to make your own projection of where the protagonist was going next in her life romantically.

Yeah and even If the movie isn't my cup of tea I would still post it because others could like it. I recommend if you see it post it and let us judge. lol.

I guess honestly I bought "Where is Good" because I am a dark, demented horror movie enthusiast and I wanted something vastly different in my Amazon movie theater. It's the only Republican Christian movie in there lol.

It really does not fit in with the other movies like Havoc III the unrated version but I do have an affinity for movies that are unique and rare in some significant way. I just started watching it again the other day and well . . . I still like it because it doesn't fit the mold of my movie tastes and that's giving it it's own flavor.

Yeah they're on a roll this year

I Remember this story! And it looks like they got quite a few things right.

This is the real Joanne Lee-Beck and Jay Hunter

So I hope the trolls that will try to find something wrong with this go read this story and the great work she did. She was an rare actual ally that they speak of. The original Law Kim Kardashian in some way. lol.

Great find, brotha!

I was actually looking for info from the trailer on this "true story", thanks for sharing, very odd story

Finally releasing this month

I remember we first mentioned this movie earlier this year

It came out last Sunday on Lifetime but the title was changed to The fight that never ends.

I'm going to have to check this out. The trailer looks a bit overwrought. I didn't notice that it was on Lifetime as well. Thanks for posting.

Just finished "California Love". The film is cringe & heavy-handed AF. This film is much better fit for Lifetime than as a theatrical release that we originally thought it was going to be.

Yeah I seen it and I had KIND of the same reaction but this is really out of lifetime's formula. The acting and script is a little better than most lifetime movies. But as I said they got nearly everything right about this true story. That's rare for an adaptation. I gave it a C+.

Funny enough I saw this movie on Lifetime a few days ago.

Finally watching the 2016 film "The Bounce Back" starring Shemar Moore & Nadine Velazquez:

Having rewatched "Hitch" a few months ago & looking at The Bounce Back's trailer, "The Bounce Back" seems like a ripoff of "Hitch" except that Shemar Moore's relationship expert character caters to women while Will Smith's relationship expert character in "Hitch" catered to men.
