I haven't had fried chicken in a long time. I never fry anything at home, and the chicken places here all suck. lol I think more people would be if they'd try them.
I didn’t either until today. For a chicken place in San Diego it was decent. Don’t hold a candle to my aunties tho lol. You’d think a chicken place in Texas would be legit tho smh.
Usually nothing is better than homemade, unless my mother cooked it. lol It was something I cooked a lot growing up. There are some good chicken places in Texas, just not close to where I live.
Yea my mom ain’t the greatest cook in the world either. Happy meals and Taco Bell was usually my dinner lol. My mom worked a lot. Sucks for you guess you settling for some Popeyes
It's going to be fillet mignon on the grill and sweet potato with cinnamon sure with butter....if it stops raining so I can light the grill. Until then it has been goat cheese with honey drizzled over with walnuts and some crackers on the side. The way it's raining I am going to bed hungry.
It sounds like she didn't have much time for cooking then. My daddy always said my mother's cooking was so bad she could mess up hamburger helper. lol Most of her issue was that she didn't want to cook, so she didn't care enough to really learn or try. She did a decent job at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but that was it. I had to start learning how to cook at age 9, and it wasn't long before I was doing most of the cooking. My daddy could cook, but he was always working and didn't do it often. I really miss his gravy. Popeyes would be a step up.
Yea she’d always be home late from work. I either had to make something for myself most nights or she’d bring home fast food during the week. It was pretty much like that until I moved out. Her cooking wasn’t terrible but not as good compared to my aunts and grandma. I got to be a pretty decent cook myself might I say lol. My dad eats at Popeyes religiously to the point of annoyance. He don’t even gotta tell em what he wants they got it ready when he walk in lol.
I know what that's like; that's the kind of schedule I had when my son was really young. It got easier when I could work early shifts and be home by the time he was out of school. A big thumbs up to you for developing those culinary skills; it's always a plus when a man can cook. Lol I guess "love that chicken from Popeyes" is his theme song. lol At least he's getting some good customer service. The best fried chicken I ever bought was at a convenience store where they used pressure fryers. The hot & spicy was my favorite. The old man who ran the store didn't like my roommate, so he'd always throw at least one spicy piece in with her order of regular. lol
I made gluten free shortcakes last night and had the leftover strawberry shortcake this morning. On a sugar high for my next meeting now.
Smoked salmon on whole wheat toast with horse radish was my dinner. Yesterday’s Chicken and brown rice was my lunch.
Well done for learning how to cook anyway! I’m very grateful for growing up with a culture of home cooking I guess that makes it so much easier to keep going and pass it on to my kids. It also helps to live in a place where eating out is just way too expensive to do it all the time;-)!
I was thinking of smoked salmon from your mention. While I stood at Whole Foods, distancing waiting for my turned I got a packet. Yum. Salmon any way is my favorite.
Sliced apple with nut butter, chia seeds and just date syrup drizzled on top. I ordered shredded brisket tacos for lunch (delivered) and it will probably come right in the middle of my video meeting.
Went to Panda Express while out doing some errands. Beef & broccoli/Kung pow chicken with white rice. Panda ain’t fuckin awesome but it suffices when out and about.
