Ronja, you don't much yourself and you are not perfect. Sorry,Norway does not go by the rules of Bruxelles and it is not a EU nation. For a person who does not know what the Motherland means especially in the definition of the African American vocabulary you don't know much on the other side of the African diaspora.

EEA is not EU (and I haven't said it is!). However EEA-countries have to follow large parts of the EU-laws! In exchange EEA-countries get many of the benefits of EU. A normal citizen wouldn't really notice if the person is living in EEA or EU, since it's that closely related to EU. For instance any EU/EEA-citizen can migrate freely within EU/EEA, and have the right to the same heatlhcare, education and social benefits within EU/EEA as the local citizens of that specific EEA/EU-country. (Amongst a whole bunch of other stuff.) That means a Norwegian can move to England and then have the same rights there as a German or even an English would. Or a German can move to Norway and have the same right as all Norwegians. It's only if you're deep into politics or international business/trade you'd actually notice there's a difference between EU and EEA.

That I don't know African-American slang says more about how many African-Americans I hang around with, than how little I know of Africa...

Acording to all the sources I've read, when "motherland" refers to a specific region, it's usually Russia. Not even "the urban dictionary" (which I use once in a while to look up american slang) mentioned that "motherland" refers to Africa. (And they usually have a whole bunch of explanations to a word there. Look up "oz" another word I've seen you use, and you'll see what I mean.) theurbandictionary.com

Anyway: what I first started to say is. stop the wild accusations and asumptions please. I'm getting more than a little fed up with it. Even the little comments like the one about how I "live in the country with the cheapest beer" is starting to be extremely anoying. Also they seem to come out of nowhere a lot of the time, so I don't even get what your point is a lot of the time. (And if I don't understand your agenda, it's kind of a failure, isn't it...)
 
It appears you don't know the culture of African Americans well as a thought. As of Norway it is independent not EU so as far as I and most Norwegians are concerned that the laws according to immigration,and other matters it is Oslo not Bruxelles. I had hit a chord, you are from the country you had mentioned. It is obious by your tone and intensity. I can admit I was wrong as a human but, you think you are infalable.

Oh dear god... NO- Immigration laws regarding immigration within EU/EEA is the same. And they're set by Brussels. (However immigration laws regarding immigration from utside EU/EEA varies.)

The norwegains are concerned, that's right, but not more than other rich EEA/EU members. Because all EEA/EU members have the same right to social benefits, some people fear that the richer countries will "drown" in immigrants from poorer places- like Poland. The Norwegian child benefit alone, is more than an average Polish sallery. And only one of the parents have to live in Norway to actually get the benefit. At the present time, a family in Norway, will get almost 800$ a month in benefit, to help cover expences and daycare. That's pr child.

Also if immigration don't halt, they calculate that within 20 years there'll be 1mill Polish living in Norway. Quite a lot for a country with only about 5mill people.

You still think that Norway is part of the EU? To date there is no vote in the Parliment or referendum of the country going to the EU. You live in one of the two Nordic EU nations and to convince me or a Norwegian that the laws are equal to EU standard are suspect. Your proof of infalability escapes me. EEA does not make it EU.

Do you read what I write at all? EEA is not EU, however they do have to follow EU-laws (allthough you keep on repeting that they don't).

It's very strange that you actually believe you know more about local politics (scandinavian) than I do... I've lived here all my life. (Oh, and my whole family are politicians and diplomats, and I've been semi-active in politics myself for a decade or more...)

Let's just end this. European politics is obviously far to complex for you to comprehend anyway. For your own sake, just stop embarrasing yourself by stating all theese "facts" that's comming purely from your own imagination. I get that you've been here on vacation- that doesn't make you an expert in any way.
 
It seems you like to insult another Nordic nation just to justify your beliefs and facts. If I was Norwegian I would be. To equate EEC rules and make them in league with EU rule is apples to oranges. I wonder if you can convince a Norwegian that they are EU citizens. I'm not unless there is proof that there is reperendum or vote in Oslo of inclusion of the EU I believe it but, it has not materialized. As for you living in one of the two Nordic EU states just be thankful your boyfriend has a chance to become a citizen of a growing alliance.
 
Norwegians are not EU-citizens, however they do have all the rights in EU that EU-citizens does. (And have to follow a lot of the EU-laws).

All Norwegians know this.

I asure you, Norwegians would NOT find this insulting.

People usually laugh more of those who will just continue defending their errors.

For the record: I normally try to be nice and polite. But is just really hard for me to do that all the time when it comes to someone who for some reason like to compare me to Karen Blixen, hold me personally responisble for the trans-atlantic slavetrade, vomits out "fact" after "fact" about what the contries in wich I'm born and raised, and even starts something that resembles hinting that my BF probably just want me for a visa... :roll:

I knew form the start that arguing with you wouldn't lead anywhere. I ve tried before. I even tried getting straight answers from you by mail at one occation, remember- I think that shows that I actually am willing to give people a chance and prove their good intentions. However you're just another jerk on the internet who's social life is probably so dead you've got nothing to do but insulting strangers.

In my book - Ronja is not at fault for not knowing an African-American term (the Motherland) which has another, completely orthodox meaning. My motherland would be England. However it is quite disgusting to accuse her of ignorance whilst knowing little about European politics, and drawing wide generalisations about different Scandanavian countries! Since I'm not Eastern-European, another part of Europe he likes to talk about, I have no idea how much mistaken "facts" he manages to type about those countries. When it comes to Scandinavia, I swear he's more wrong (or "wrong-ish" than correct...)
 
so i just have to say i am "in a way" enjoying this...i love watching the european ww posters kick some american bm butt :axe: it finally came to me WHY soulthinker likes to challenge you ronja...it's must be because your man is african...he would probably like you more if being a european ww you were obsessed by american bm...you see some of these guys trashing the american ww women on the board as they worship the european ww...but you my fair lady have found your lovely bm somewhere other than in the states...
that must kill soulthinker...especially since his most recent trip to europe was a dry run...WTF the women weren't throwing themselves at your feet soulthinker...
as much as these few men trash american ww...i think their view of a european woman is way off...you two (mistressb) women could have these men for lunch...chew em up and spit em out...

Yeah, maybe he is just jealous :D

About his trips to Europe: I don't know how many times he's been here, but it seems to be at least a few. What I've thought is, if we're so easily approachable and are all basically dyeing to throw ourself into his big strong hands, why is he still single?

Don't get me wrong, I don't normally enjoy other peoples misfortune, but:
