A night's stay for an illegal immigrant in the country's largest taxpayer-funded detention center costs more than a room at the nearest Hilton Hotel, Daily Mail Online can reveal.

The government shells out $231 every 24 hours to house just one of the 2,105 foreign detainees at The South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, a small town 200 miles from the Mexican border.*

That is more than a double room at the four-star Hilton Palacio del Rio 70 miles away in San Antonio, which costs $169.

Small businesses and their impact on the economy are a far cry from the impact created by multinational corportations. MNCs are responsible for the flood of money in politics, the lack of responsiveness of elected officials, the ineffectiveness of regulatory legislation, a significant part of the decision to deploy the US military, the outsourcing of jobs, preferential taxation schemes that penalize work and privilege capital, etc...

I'm sure this is a private corporation boondoggle. The centers wouldn't be necessary if those firms were harshly punished for hiring them. There would be no jobs and they would not come.

You're right, TDK. Taking into account the way the two parties split the white vote and the Dems' near-absolute lock on the black vote means that the party that gets 55-60%+ of the Latin vote wins the race.

The controversial center in Dilley, a town of just 3,650 people, was opened last May to accommodate an influx of families crossing the border and takes in around 40 immigrants every day.

The 50-acre compound features 80 two-bedroom, one-bathroom cottages connected by dirt roads and newly laid grass sod.

The cottages include bunk beds and cribs that can sleep up to eight, and a kitchen - although cooking is prohibited to prevent fires.*

Food is served in a dining hall but, according to reports, many children have rejected the food.

In all honesty, I know maybe one (and I'm oversimplifying his family's story) out of the dozens of immigrants (from a variety of countries) that I am personally familiar with (including a few who are here illegally) who is receiving benefits. The vast majority are working 2-3 low-wage jobs. I'm sure there are plenty of bad apples out there, but that has not been my experience.

Factually, what you say here is true and should end the argument,.....but, AGAIN, the brethren on this forum want to stay in denial, they want earnestly to believe that since we share minority status with Hispanic immigrants, that we should automatically be in alliance with Hispanic immigrants........At the end of the day, we can understand, with some compassion, that they come to our country in search of a better life for their families,.... but there is no getting around the point that it is coming at a great cost to the indigenous needy who are being asked to share more from a limited pool of resources.......

We allowed the issue of Illegal immigration to highjacked and turned into RACE issue,when in fact it is a LABOR issue,since they have full access to our job market.

It is a HEALTH CARE issue since they arrive uninsured.

It is an Education issue since they arrive uneducated and the corporate sponsored Supreme Court put us on the hook to educate them.

It is a Retirement issue since they have open access to our retirement fund via fake SS#'s and the fake returns they are allowed to reap.

It is standard of living issues since there is no plan on the books to send them home or even stop them from coming.

Our infrastructure was not designed with an open border in mind.
There is barely enough water for the current population,let alone all the children they are projected to shit out in the coming years.

Frankly we are losing the country to an invading horde that we (native born) will pay a price. By 2050 there will be a dramatic shift in demographics. If you think the invasion from the south will be intense, just wait until the Islamic population make inroads to radically change the country. The new norm is now in being. This will not change. I wonder what the white and black extremists going to do now that their power and influence will diminish in the year's to come. The traditional United States of past eras is dying. What is important is a well informed segment of the population be aware of the tidal wave coming and prepare for it. I worry for my son and newborn coming. You can just look at Arizona and New Mexico to see the condition they are in...but what about places like Houston.

Houston is in shocking condition.She relies totally on groundwater since traditional sources have long been exhausted.

It's OVER,when your only source of fresh water is beneath your feet.

Aquifers are not to be relied upon,they are to be preserved, since they keep the ground from collapsing.

Florida's Aquifers are at or below sea level,and WILL BE contaminated by sea water in the very near future.

The planet adds 1 billion people EVERY 12 YEARS!.....While the supply of fresh water is drying up just as fast.

Clean, drinkable water is the world's most precious resource. The global population has almost reached capacity for fresh water reserves.

If you see a company who's investing in desalination technology in a big way, IMO invest.

 

Another factor has arisen in the recent years.

Hydraulic fracking.

That madness will greatly speed up ground water depletion..and contaminate the rest.
